Has anyone read the 'Secrets of the immortal: Nicholas Flamel' series. If you have not I suggest that you do. They are not written with the depth of Tolkein but are very intrecately woven through time and history.
Read It

I have resently been reading a trilogy called the Bartimaeus Trilogy. It is a awesome trilogy in which demons and djinn have a starring role. Most of it is set in modern London controlled by magicians. The main characters and Nathaniel (aka John Mandrake) and the whitty Djinn Bartimaeus. I recomend this book to people who like quick whits. To find out more read it for yourself.
